Hall And Carpenter Reunite?

Dexter actor Michael C. Hall has sparked rumours of a reconciliation with his ex-wife Jennifer Carpenter after the co-stars were spotted walking arm-in-arm in California on Wednesday (08Feb12).

The couple’s divorce was finalised in December (11), a year after Carpenter moved to end her two-year marriage, but now it appears the former lovers have reignited the spark in their relationship – they were snapped enjoying a romantic stroll along Venice Beach and cuddling on a bench.

The reunion won’t come as too much of a surprise for fans – last year (11), Carpenter insisted there was no love lost between the couple, because cancer survivor Hall would always be one of her “best friends in the world”.

She added, “Just because the marriage ended doesn’t mean the love isn’t still there. We take very good care of each other and our cast – we always have – and I’m just really lucky.”

Andy Serkis Never Intended Acting Career

Andy Serkis never intended to be an actor and he only fell into the career when he took theatre studies as his second subject at college because he ”couldn’t think of anything better to do”.

Andy Serkis never intended to be an actor.

The 47-year-old star – who portrayed Gollum in the ‘Lord of the Rings’ series and King Kong in the 2005 movie of the same name – never harboured ambitions to be a big Hollywood star and only fell into acting when he took theatre studies as his second subject at college because he “couldn’t think of anything better to do”.

He told Collider.com: “I actually didn’t even intend to be an actor. I went to college to study graphics, painting and design. I was going to be an artist. And when I got to college, you had to do another subject in your first year, so I chose theater studies because I couldn’t think of anything better to do. But, I started designing sets and posters and stuff, and then, I did a play, which completely changed my life.

“I found that this connection to the role I was playing was so intense, and the whole experience of doing it was so intense, that I completely changed my direction and decided to become an actor.”

Despite his previous lack of acting ambitions, Andy – who is set to reprise his role as chimpanzee Caesar in a sequel to ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ – found it “relatively easy” to play the part of an ape because he doesn’t see much difference to portraying a human being.

He added: “I found it relatively easy, actually. For instance, playing a character like King Kong and playing a character like Caesar in ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’, you think, ‘Oh, they’re two apes.’ But, as we all know, apes are 97 per cent genetically the same as us, so it’s like saying, ‘How do you play a human being?’ They’re all totally individual and totally idiosyncratic. It always goes back to character.”

Adele ‘Flabbergasted’ Over Grammys Triumph

Adele is still coming to terms with her major win at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (12Feb12), insisting she’s “flabbergasted” as it was the “most incredible night” of her life.

The British singer took home six trophies from the event, becoming only the sixth act in history to sweep the top three awards – Record, Song and Album of the Year.

Adele is adamant she didn’t think she’d triumph at the ceremony and has reached out to her fans to thank them for their support.

In a blog post on Tuesday (14Feb12), she writes, “Oh goodness!! I’m absolutely flabbergasted! In between laughing my head off, welling up, needing to sit down and trying to maintain an open fire (which is pretty much impossible huh!?) I keep having flashbacks to Sunday night. The most incredible night of my life.

“Thank you to you all, I am so overwhelmed, it’s the strangest feeling. I have constant butterflies and goosebumps, it’s wearing me out but I Love it!

“Despite the phenomenal year, I swear I didn’t think I had any chance. All the categories were full of people I adore with brilliant songs, records and performances. So not in my wildest dreams did I think to actually prepare anything proper to say just in case…

“The night itself was so amazing, I met so many incredible people and everyone we’ve lost this year were on our minds and in our hearts and it was lovely to remember them all together as fans and friends.”

Baxendale Has No Regrets Over Snubbing Friends Stardom

British actress Helen Baxendale has no regrets about turning her back on Hollywood after shooting to international stardom on Friends, likening fame to “a gilded prison”.

The Cold Feet star, 41, appeared in 16 episodes of the hit U.S. comedy as posh Brit Emily Waltham, who married David Schwimmer’s character Ross Geller and subsequently divorced him.

Baxendale bowed out of the sitcom to concentrate on her pregnancy and family, and admits she wasn’t impressed with her first taste of international stardom.

She tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “I had a little glimpse of what fame holds, and I decided it held a load of nothing. It contained nothing that mattered. Some people can deal with that well; it sits on their shoulders fine. But it wasn’t for me.

“Friends was great fun, but I was just there so they could make some funny jokes about England. And I was also expecting, and you have to be thin out in America.

“You couldn’t walk down the street to buy a pint of milk. In fact, you couldn’t go anywhere. It was impossible to mix with the crowd, and do what ordinary people do. I saw it as a gilded prison. It was something I wasn’t prepared for. But it was quickly forgotten. I don’t get the same attention now.

“Fame just didn’t fit in with my life. I don’t know how much would have come from staying in the States anyway. I didn’t want to live in America, when all my circumstances were leading me back to Britain. I don’t regret it for a minute.”
